IAF to host major exhibit of Iranian crafts

TEHRAN – Handicrafts from all over the country will go on show at a sales exhibition, which will be held from January 21 to 30 at the Iranian Artists Forum in downtown Tehran.

Titled “Fajr handicrafts festival” the event will feature patchworks of woodwork, illuminated manuscript, miniature, textile printing, enamel, leatherwork, calligraphy, metalwork, mirrorwork, and marquetry. It also includes potteries, ceramics, and rugs amongst other works.

Organizers are also scheduled to stage a two-section completion dedicated to genuine traditional handicrafts and the innovation-oriented ones which are utilized in hotels, modern homes, urban settings and architectural designs, IRIB reported on Monday.

Over the past couple of years, dozens of Iranian handicrafts have gained the UNESCO Seal of Excellence.
